Research: Learning from Japan The Role of Rail Infrastructure in Urban Growth
Dongsei Kim conducts research on the relationship between High Speed Rail (HSR) and urbanization titled “Learning from Japan: The Role of Rail Infrastructure in Urban Growth” funded by William Kinne Fellows Traveling Prizes, Columbia University, GSAPP (2009). Collaboration work with Daniel Montes-Santamaria.
Dongsei has travelled to Japan between July 04 and July 19, 2014 to conduct the research. He has visited to Shinkansen (新幹線) stations and its surroundings in Tokyo, Ueno, Yokohama, Nagano, Takasaki, Omiya, Nagoya, Kyoto, Osaka (Shin-Osaka), Kobe (Shin-Kobe), Okayama, Hiroshima, Fukuoka (Hakata), Kokura, Kumamoto, and Kagoshima-Chuo. A summarizing publication of the research trip is in progress.
